NDIS Intake and Engagement Officer

Position Overview:


The NDIS Intake and Engagement Officer plays a key role in assisting individuals with disabilities in accessing the right supports under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This role involves managing participant inquiries, conducting intake assessments, and guiding clients through the onboarding process. The officer builds relationships with participants, families, and referrers to ensure a smooth transition into services while maintaining compliance with NDIS guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as the first point of contact for prospective NDIS participants, families, and support coordinators.
  • Conduct initial assessments to understand participants’ needs, goals, and eligibility.
  • Provide clear guidance on NDIS-funded services and assist with service agreements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with referral sources, including hospitals, allied health professionals, and community organizations.
  • Maintain participant records in compliance with NDIS standards and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and a positive participant experience.
  • Educate participants and families about their NDIS plans, funding categories, and available supports.
  • Monitor and follow up with participants to ensure ongoing engagement and satisfaction with services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand service reach and improve participant engagement strategies.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • Experience in disability services, aged care, community services, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS framework, funding categories, and service provisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with participants and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple inquiries and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • High level of empathy, cultural awareness, and person-centered service delivery.
  • A background in sales, customer service, or business development (desirable).

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check (if applicable)
  • National Police Check
  • Valid Driver’s License (preferred)
